Em reportagem que saiu no G1 no dia 25 de junho, pesquisadores comprovam que o QI médio é mais alto nos países onde há menor crença em Deus.
O professor de psicologia irlandês Richard Lynn assina o texto (que será publicado em revista científica) que defende a tese de que pessoas com QI (Quociente de Inteligência) mais alto são menos propensas a ter crenças religiosas. Lynn é polêmico e sua credibilidade é questionável... afinal... ele sugeriu que os homens são mais inteligentes do que as mulheres.
O estudo é baseado em pesquisas anteriores. Em uma delas, faz-se a comparação média de QI com religiosidade entre 137 países. A conclusão: 23 dos 137 países possuem mais de 20% da população atéia e são esses países que possuem maior indíce de QI. Excessões seriam Cuba e Vietnã, mas a explicação dada para isso foi o comunismo. Os EUA são considerados uma exceção sem explicação. Para tentar explicar a correlação entre QI e religiosidade, Lynn usa a teoria de que pessoas mais inteligentes são mais propensas a questionar dogmas religiosos, mas afirma que isso muda com a cultura e com a época.

Researchers are proving that the average IQ is higher in countries where there is less belief in God. The Irish professor of psychology Richard Lynn sign the text (which will be published in a scientific journal) that supports the theory that people with higher IQ (intelligence quocient) has less religious beliefs. Lynn is controversial and its credibility is questionable... after all... he suggested that men are more intelligent than women.The study is based on previous researches. One of them makes a comparison of average IQ with religiosity among 137 countries. The conclusion: 23 of 137 countries have more than 20% of the population is atheistic and those countries that have higher index of IQ. Exceptions would be Cuba and Vietnam, but the explanation given for this was the communism. The U.S. is considered an exception without explanation. To try to explain the correlation between IQ and religiosity, Lynn uses the theory that most intelligent people are more prone to question religious dogma, but says that this change with the culture and with the season.
